The Wedding: Day Two

A concert of classical Indian music was held in the morning. Then the men from both families played cricket, there was a lunch and then Mehndi in Pine Woods for the women. The bride had her hands and feet decorated with henna designs ("the deeper and darker the henna stains the more the husband and in-laws will love the bride" I discovered via Google) and all of us women – family and friends – had our palms decorated. We lounged under the colorful tents above the beach and drank tea and ate sweets, and were treated to a show by local singers and dancers. When our palms dried we chose our wedding bangles. A photo of the bride below (much loved by her in-laws.)

Sangeet: In the evening Dylan and Tanaya's friends put on marvelous skits, and there were slide shows of the bride and groom growing up. Who knew that my niece Elizabeth could do stand-up? She was hilarious as she explained how her handsome brother earned the name of "Cheese Head" as a small child and then introduced his previous life via pictures. In the slide show there were my parents holding Dylan as a baby, his mother, and his other grandparents. I was blindsided by how moving it was.
