This was the first official night of the wedding, Simant Pujan. As I understand it our family was greeted by the bride's family and invited into their village – all symbolic and actually a platform on the beach surrounded by beautiful white flags blowing in the wind. My brother, the groom's father, received a coconut. I'm not clear about this coconut and neither was he the last time we spoke, all I know is that it was 85 degrees out, the Arabian Sea was crashing on the beach, and with all those flags waving it was beautiful beyond belief.
