WritingTime will be silent until next week. UCLA Extension's Writers Studio starts tomorrow and ends Sunday evening.

One of the best parts of teaching – besides meeting a whole new bunch of wonderful people and reconnecting with previous students – is that you have to rethink what you take for granted about writing. I always end up revising my syllabus the day before I start teaching to make it fresh for myself and also I'm figuring out new ways to look at – in this case – the personal essay.
