The Best Part of Vacation

Waikikiphoto

We are still in Hawaii and I’m thinking that this is probably the best weather on earth, but how does it affect writers? I feel like a large passive vegetable – and getting larger by the minute.  I’m not sure what the perfect weather would be for writers – or if we actually notice the weather once we start writing. Or reading –

I’m into four different books right now and have just finished Sue Miller’s The Senator’s Wife – (Has anyone read it? One of the stranger endings I have ever read. ) And now reading my dear friend Sam Dunn’s wonderful novel, Failing Paris, a fascinating non-fiction book, Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things, Carol Shields Jane Austen, and Mary Karr’s Cherry.

The best part of vacation: reading.
