Five Thousand Pumpkins to Sell

One minute – well, actually for years – you’re sitting at your desk in your slippers and sweats, tapping away at the keyboard, living in your own little world where you have total control and visions of truth, beauty, honesty etc., and then the next minute you’ve got like five thousand pumpkins to sell. Your published book.  You’re on TV with about a pound of make-up on your face talking about the book, or on the telephone with a radio interviewer and trying to get your cats to shut up as you talk (and talk and talk) about your book, or you’re giving book parties for yourself and asking perfect strangers to come. Midnight, dawn, anytime at all – you’re ready to sell that book.  It’s a very weird part of being a writer.

In any event, dear readers, come to Dutton’s Brentwood Books Friday night, 10/12 at 7:00 and celebrate the publication of Courage & Craft: Writing Your Life Into Story with me, or watch for a “Straight From the Heart” interview with Sheri Meyers Gantman on local television channels in L.A. next month, or listen to the interview on the Maria Sanchez Show posted on her website, or on 10/27 come to Laguna Beach Books, or 11/1 to Williams Books in San Pedro or Village Books in Pacific Palisades later in the month…. Or better yet, just sit there at your desk in your slippers and write your own story.
