The Laziness of Pictures

Red light in the middle of nowhere

For reasons I don't fully understand, I've become obsessed with photographing roads – and also cows, cats, deer, horses, clouds and whatever else I run into on my six mile walk at dawn. I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with being lazy. With my camera (actually my amazing iPhone) if I see something interesting I don't have to try to put it into words – either in my head or  in my notebook. I just point and shoot. I can't tell you how liberating this is, how much fun it is, how I'm driving everybody crazy with slideshows on my Mac set to music.

I took the above photo on the way to the Butte airport. We waited for fifteen minutes at that red light. And how lovely to just snap it and not have to go into a lot of words about empty landscape in the middle of nowhere etc. (Please feel free to use it as a writing prompt if you write fiction.)
