Pimping Your Book

ME

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone but I really am the Marketing Whore this month and at this point I know no shame. I'm sure you're as sick of me as I am of me. I'm selling my wares (CHERISHED: 21 Writers on Animals They've Loved and Lost – available at your local bookstore or Amazon!!) all over Facebook, in any bookstore that will let me in the door, radio interviews, pod casts et al. The best part though is having a posse – the other writers in the book who graciously show up with me at bookstores to read.  And because I admire them as writers so much, I feel like a groupie who gets to show up with the band.

When you sell your book, if you haven't already, you will understand what marketing is like. It's the opposite of writing, it's 360 degrees from who you really are: someone who wants to stay at home and write in perfect silence and solitude. Though I have to admit there is a rush when we're all reading together and have an appreciative audience. But to get to this point there are endless email blasts, Facebook announcements, postcards mailed/handed to anyone you know, etc. etc..

And by the way: I have a new, updated website: http://www.BarbaraAbercrombie.com  There's even more about the book on it, including the Introduction I wrote, photographs of all the authors and their animals, and upcoming bookstore events.

I swear, this will all be over soon and we'll get back to the subject of writing.
