And you thought it was all over, that you had arrived, when you finished your book and sold it. No, no – that's just the beginning phase. That's the easy part where you get to sit around in your bedroom slippers and just write. 

I'm now deep into marketing. A Year of Writing Dangerously will not be published until the end of June but here I am tooting its horn.  I'm emailing perfect strangers and asking them if they'd give up hours of their time to read the page proofs of the book and maybe, if they like what they read, spend more time writing a couple of pithy lines about how wonderful it is. I even emailed R.'s ex-wife's new husband (who once mentioned he knew a favorite writer of mine) to ask him for that writer's email address and an introduction.  I know no shame.

I'll be doing a blog tour and hitting some bookshops in the spring. I'm going to shoot a book trailer with Rob Daly. I'm going to order a billion postcards featuring the cover of the book and mail or hand one to every human being I know or meet on this planet. I'm going to (finally) revamp this blog site and make it possible to leave comments. And also update the recommended books which have been in the sidebar for the past six or seven years.
