Making a Deadline

I got Kicking In the Wall off to my editor in time for my deadline. (I love deadlines – they organize the mess of writing.) When I pushed the Send button I felt very optimistic about the whole thing. I'd done my best, it could be a useful book for writers, etc. and I was eager to hear the changes my editor would make in the manuscript. This lasted for about eight hours. The next morning I made the mistake of dipping back into my pages and thinking OMG this could have been so much better. This happens everytime I finish something. You can't judge your own work, you just have to hand it over and hope for the best.

FYI: There's one space left in the Writers Retreat in Lake Arrowhead next month. (email me at B.Abercrombie@verizon.net if you're interested.) I'm doing two workshops at the Central Coast Writer's Conference September 20-22, and at UCLA Extension I'm teaching an eight week course, "Writing the Healing Story". It's from 10 – 1 on Tuesdays and starts October 23rd.
