Student Spotlight: Linzi Glass

Linzi_02_1 One day in class about twelve years ago, Linzi Glass handed me a story called “The Year the Gypsies Came” and asked if I’d read it; she didn’t know what it was or what she should do with it. Not only did I love the title, I loved the whole story – the setting, her images that read like prose poems, her characters. It’s a novel, I told her. She said she didn’t know how to write a novel and I said she’d figure it out. And she did. It was published this month in the U.S. by Henry Holt and in the U.K. by Penguin and you can click here to read more about it and to order it.

For those of you who live in Los Angeles, Linzi will be reading and signing books at Dutton’s Bookstore in Brentwood on April 6th at 7:30 pm. Check her website for other appearances.
