Balancing Acts

Last month I was part of a literary panel at a the Women Leaders Forum in Palm Springs and we were asked what the most challenging part of writing was for each of us. Most of us agreed that writing itself was just plain challenging.  And the word balance came up a lot. How do you balance writing with the demands of a family? How do you balance a day job with writing to keep a roof over your head and food on the table before earning money from your writing? We all agreed that if you do something creative that you love, a wish for wealth, or even making a working wage doing it, is not usually part of the package and that’s okay. But the balancing act is never easy. The bottom line was that you just do it.
