Last month I heard Abigail Thomas read her wonderful essay "My Narrow Escape" from In The Fullness of Time (edited by Upham and Gravenson) at Diesel bookstore in L.A.  I hate being a fan, asking for an autograph and taking a photo. But I did take a picture, and then went up for her autograph.  And then sent her a fan letter.
